New USDA Tolerance
Technical Bulletin
Urgent Update
According to documents published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration* many pesticide residues, some of which are still present in rendered products today, have had their tolerances revoked. FDA policy for
compounds present in regulated products which do not otherwise have established tolerances are considered actionable adulterations if any
concentration is found to be present.
As detection methods become more sophisticated the levels of detection of pesticides and metabolite residues are lowered . As a consequence of these technological improvements, the
actual actionable concentration is reduced (i.e. the level of pesticide residue at which FDA will take regulatory action is reduced). Thus , each advance in
pesticide residue detection is a de facto reduction of the permissible level of residue present in regulated products.
Presented here is a list of these 24 recently revoked tolerances.
